CEMEX operates in Latvia since 2005. In 2007 a significant investment project was started – construction of a new cement plant in Brocēni. During the construction process the most modern and environment friendly technologies have been used. Along with commissioning of the new plant the cement production capacity of CEMEX in Latvia will triple, thus it will be able to provide cement both for the local market, as well as to export high quality product to foreign countries – Baltics, Scandinavia, Russia. CEMEX also produces ready-mix (plants located in Riga, Brocēni, Madona, Daugavpils) and aggregates (quarry in Madona). The company employs approximately 330 people. In 2007 „CEMEX Opportunity Fund for Brocēni and Saldus region” was founded, the purpose of which is to improve the quality of life of the local community by supporting projects that relate to environment and education. Up till now the fund has supported more than 70 projects.
